Favorite Skating Spots in the United States

Certain places in the U.S. are the favorite places to skate among inllne skaters. Some of those places are described in this article.

In San Francisco, on Sundays, much of Golden Gate Park is closed to traffic. Inline skaters are everywhere. Skate rentals are available. There is an area where music is playing and where skaters are dancing. There is another area where skaters can slalom through a maze and there are numerous areas in the park to just skate, skate, and skate!

Some skaters like to skate on the streets in New York City. Some skate on Boulder Creek Path in Colorado and ON the beach in California! Skating in Vail, Colorado is also quite popular. Another, wonderful spot is the trails on the Lakefront Path in Chicago. The Lakefront Path is 18.5 miles. It runs to Chicago's South Side.

New York's Central Park is a very popular skating spot. The Central Park's Skate Patrol gives free lessons on how to stop. Free skating maps that show the best places to skate are also available from both the Central Park Skate Patrol and the Chicago Skate Patrol.

One of the best places to skate on a beach is in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The city is the first city in the world to have a uniformed police officer who patrols on inline skates. A large inline skating club, the New River Rollers, is based in Florida.

The Veloway in Austin, Texas is a place designed for the needs of inline skaters and bicyclists.. The Veloway features both slow and fast lanes. Joggers and walkers are not allowed to use the Veloway. Skaters of all ages and abilities feel comfortable on the Veloway. The scenery on the Veloway is appealing and families, beginning inline skaters, and speed skaters enjoy skating there.

Other favorite places to skate in the United States include Rock Creek Park in Washington, D.C., The Lakes in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, and The Strand in Pacific Palisades, California.

California beach skating can take skaters for miles. A skater can begin in Pacific Palisades, but cruise by the beaches in Santa Monica and Venice. Skaters can see unusual sites on Muscle Beach. It is common to see a group of skate dancers in Venice.

For skaters who can't get to these famous places, most cities and towns have nice parks or areas that can be used by inline skaters. When looking for a place to skate, try to find a place free from traffic, rocks, and twigs. Flat and smooth pavement are the best surfaces for inline skating.
